Before the opening ceremony of the UAAP Season 79, the De La Salle University Dance Sports Blitz performed in the newly introduced dance sport in UAAP, the Ballroom formation dance competition. It was held at the UST Quadricentennial Pavillion.
The event had two categories, which were the Latin America Dance category and Standard Ballroom Dance category.
With only months to prepare, the DLSU Dance Sport Blitz, gave their best in the dance floor with their matching green dresses and ties. Danced to the tunes of Adele’s “To Make You Feel My Love”, Megan Trainor’s “Dear Future Husband”, and many more.
At the end of the event, the DLSU Dance Sport Blitz was awarded as 2nd runner-up for the Standard Ballroom Category with a final tally of 87.
The University of the Philippines swept the categories, and dominated in the Ballroom competition as champions with 94.48 in the Latin American and 94.3 for the Standard Ballroom. While the host school, University of Santo Tomas won 1st runner-up for both categories, with 91.66 and 92.1, respectively. While University of the East got the 2nd runner-up for Latin America category with a score of 84.4.
It was an amazing and competitive afternoon in the dance floor, but since it is only introduced as a demonstration sport, it won’t have any bearing in the General Championship tally.
