The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Spikers failed to seize their second win as they succumbed into the hands of Far Eastern University (FEU) Spikers in a three-set, nerve-wracking game of UAAP Season 78 Menís Beach Volleyball at Mall of Asia Sands by the Bay, October 10.

Carlo Sendo and Cris Dumago’s tandem invested into FEUís unforced errors during the third and deciding set but Jude Garcia was able to retaliate burying a cross-court hit to end the set and match, 13-15.

Despite the drubbing, DLSU put up a gritty stand as they bombarded the Recto-based squad with cross-court and down-the-line onslaughts and drop balls on second and third sets.

The Green and White squad was off to a fresh start after losing the  first set as Sendo drew first blood in the second set.

FEU Spikers kept Dumago and Sendo at bay with a two-point deficit, 14-16, but Dumago drilled a dominant spike fuelling their tandem to make a 4-0 assault, 18-16.

Garcia’s unforced error sealed the second set for Green Spikers, 21-18.

“Naging disadvantage namin iyong slow start sa game at idagdag pa iyong player namin na first time maglalaro. Naninibago pa siya.” says DLSUs Assistant Coach Arnold Laniog.

In the afternoon match against Ateneo de Manila Universityís Ysay Marasigan and Marck Espejo, the Taft-based squad was unable to counter the Blue and White tandem’s explosive offenses yielding to an 18-21 ,16-21 finish.

The Green Spiker has a win and two losses and will duel against Adamson University Spikers next.
