DLSU Lady Archers triumph over the Lady Maroons, 65-46

Coming from last game’s victory, The DLSU Lady Archers look forward to maintaining their winning streak as they defeated the Lady Maroons today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

From the opening of the quarter, the Lady Archers showcased their aggressiveness, as Penaranda was able to score the first basket with an assist from Claro, followed by a basket from Claro. This went on, leaving their opponents, the Lady Maroons, little to no room for shooting. However, the Lady Maroons were able to get a grip and was able to score despite DLSU’s tight defense. Eventually, the Lady Maroons were able to catch up, tying the tally at 11-all. With UP’s momentum, they were able to trail DLSU by a few points, however, with Vergara’s buzzer beater triple, the quarter ended with DLSU leading, 15-17.

In the second quarter, the Lady Archers maintained the same aggressiveness that they had in the pervious quarter. With back-to-back baskets from Nuñez and Revillosa, they were able to get back the lead. Followed by a basket from Vela and a trey from Dagdagan, the Taft squad was able to build a seven-point lead, 28-21. The Green and White team were on a roll as Roxas was able to score off an assist from Claro, followed by a score from Revillosa, and Claro completing an and-1 situation. The quarter ended with DLSU procuring a 19 point lead, 40-21.

The Lady Maroons were able to keep up with DLSU’s pace as they were able to improve their ball play in the third quarter. Despite UP keeping up with the Taft squad, Peñaranda was able to sneak past UP’s defense with three consecutive baskets, 48-29. After several failed attempts from both teams to score, Nuñez was able to end the drought for the Green and White. Vergara followed suit with a triple, along with another basket from Nuñez, ending the quarter with a tally of 55-31.

UP’s defense became tighter in the final quarter which served as another obstacle to the Lady Archers. Revillosa’s two consecutive baskets helped extend DLSU’s lead as UP was trying to catch up, 59-35. In the last few seconds of the game, baskets from Ali Mohamed El Hadad and Figueroa ended the drought for the Green and White. At the end of the quarter, the Lady Archers earned their second win with a tally of 65-46.

Benette Revillosa led the team with 13 points and 4 blocks, while Snow Peñaranda contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds. Claro chipped in 9 points and 3 rebounds.
