(Photo by Karl Dela Cruz) The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Archers received their third loss of the UAAP Season 82 after a comeback fell short against the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, 66-67, yesterday, September 18, at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
The Morayta-based squad had control almost the entire game. FEU put on an early 14-11 lead and extending it to 31-25 at the end of the first half. The Lady Tamaraws continued to sizzle in the second half. Later on, they built their biggest lead at 11, 66-55, midway through the final frame. But, the Lady Archers were not about to raise the white flag already.
A 6-1 run by La Salle put them behind by only six points, 61-67, with less than two minutes in the game clock. A basket by Kent Pastrana, who sparked the run for the Taft-based squad, then cut it down to four, 63-67, with 38 seconds to go. La Salle closed the gap to just a solitary point, 66-67, on a triple with 22 remaining, forcing the Lady Tamaraws to a timeout. However, a desperation attempt by Bea Dalisay would just not go in as FEU managed to escape.
Pastrana continued her sensational performance, leading her team anew with 18 big points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. However, the rookie out of Silay City also committed four turnovers and was 0/5 from deep.
Bernice Paraiso and team captain Bennette Revillosa each finished with 13 and 11 markers. The latter contributed eight boards, three swipes, and four rejections.
The DLSU Lady Archers (2-3) seek to return to the win column when they face the ADU Soaring Lady Falcons on Saturday, September 21, at the Ynares Center Antipolo.
