Green Batters bounce back, thwart UP
The De La Salle University Green Batters overcame the UP Fighting Maroons, 11-4, in the UAAP Season 80 Baseball Tournament, yesterday, at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
The Fighting Maroons started off hot, crossing the plate twice before the momentum shifted towards the Green Batters at the second inning.
La Salle scored its first run and tied the game with a hit coming from Gabo Pineda, followed by Anton Acuña, putting the team on top, for the first time in the game.
Defense slipped from the hands of UP and gave DLSU a chance for offense with a six run frame, while Ignacio Escaño went for another score in the fifth inning and continued until they grab the win.
After a loss from Ateneo last Wednesday, La Salle was able to tie up at first place, with a 4-1 win-loss record by the end of the first round.
The DLSU Green Batters will enter the second round of eliminations on February 21 at the same venue.
