Green and Lady Woodpushers struggle to close out the weekend
It was not the ideal weekend ender for the De La Salle University Green and Lady Woodpushers in their Season 81 action, as both teams fell to their opponents at the University of Santo Tomas Quadricentennial Pavilion on Sunday.
Coming in with an unblemished record of 2-0, the Lady Woodpushers were halted by the women’s chess team of the University of the Philippines (UP) with a score of 1.5-2.5.
Meanwhile on the men’s side, the Green Woodpushers still find themselves looking for their first win as they were denied of a victory by the men’s chess team of the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), likewise with a score of 1.5-2.5.
Nonetheless, Woodpushers Head Coach Susan Grace Neri still sees the heart and fight in her teams. “The strength parameter of the tournament is really close. talagang hindi nagkakalayo yung lakas ng mga teams this season kaya talagang maganda yung labanan”, Neri proclaimed regarding the heightened competition level within the league. “My teams are doing just fine in terms of adjustment. I believe that the tournament is just starting and there’s still so much potential to unleash and see. Right now, I still have so much faith in my team and in our teamwork in making this season count.”
Both squads will look to bounce back, as the Green and Lady Woodpushers go to battle against Far Eastern University (FEU) and University of the East (UE), respectively, on Saturday, September 29 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
