La Salle routs UP in 4 sets
The De La Salle Lady Spikers prevailed against University of the Philippines Lady Maroons winning in 4 sets, 25-27, 25-20, 25-23, and 25-10 earlier today at Filoil Arena in San Juan.
In the first set, the Lady Spikers started strong with a 4-point lead against the Lady Maroons at the first technical timeout, UP however was able to catch up with unforced errors coming from blocks, miscommunication, and service receptions plaguing the Taft based squad. DLSU eventually dropped the first set, 25-27.
La Salle also trailed UP at the second technical timeout of the second set. Most of the points of the Lady Maroons came from off-the-block hits by their open hitters. DLSU made a comeback as they delivered more powerful attacks and solid blocking to stop the momentum of the Lady Maroons, which gave them a win in the 2nd set, 25-20.
In the third set, it was the same story, the Lady Spikers had some reception miscues which allowed UP to cut down the lead and even tie the game, at the crucial moments however, DLSU’s players were able to step to give them the 3rd set.
Winning two sets already, La Salle didn’t give UP a chance to make a comeback and ended the 4th set at 25-10.
With this, La Salle improved their standing at 8-1. Next assignment for them will be the NU Lady Bulldogs this coming Saturday (January 31, 2015) at the Mall of Asia Arena.
