The DLSU Lady Batters dominate their season-opener against UST with a 7-3 victory at Rizal Baseball Stadium last January 24.
UST had a few good swings early in the game, they opened their offense with a home run and ended their rally with two points in the second inning. In an instant, the Taft-based squad stormed the opposing team by making three points in the same inning.
By the third inning, the DLSU squad adjusted their play to UST’s earlier performance. The Lady Batters batted two more points and pitched excellently to leave UST scoreless throughout the inning. The Lady Batters continued their great play and stalled UST’s momentum until the end of the game.
Lady Batters emerged victorious scoring seven markers through seven innings. Clearly, the UST squad was surprised by the up-tempo and fast pitches delivered by the girls.
Coach Alex Estipular of the Lady Batters commented, “Nag-umpisa agad kami ng maganda kaagad. Handa rin kami kasi mas mabilis yung pag-pitch namin ng bola kesa sa kanila. Kaya dahil dun, naging confident kami.”
Coach Alex also praised his new recruit’s performance which helped bolster the team’s performance with her out-of-nowhere pitching.
Vanessa Borbon of DLSU shared her comments about their performance in the season opener, “Speechless, sobrang speechless. Sobrang happy ako kasi di ko inexpect na ganun yung i-peperform ng teammates ko.”
The player expects more wins throughout the season and hopes that the team can carry this momentum until the last game.
Surely, we can expect more thrills from this team throughout the season. Such a promising start to what might be a tough UAAP Season. Catch the Lady Batters at their next game, January 28 (Wednesday), at the same venue.
