The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Booters cruised past the University of Philippines (UP) Fighting Lady Maroons, 3-0, to garner their second win and remain undefeated in UAAP Season 81 earlier today at the Circulo Verde Pitch.
The defending champions drew first blood at the 28th minute courtesy of a Kyra Dimaandal goal. The team captain’s top-right corner attempt from outside the box off an Irish Navaja assist put La Salle ahead, 1-0.
UP gave a scare at the 40th minute with a spectacular kick to the right, but reigning Best Goalkeeper Tashka Lacson was able to put a stop to it with a high diving save.
Six minutes after the restart, the Taft-based squad doubled its advantage following a Navaja close-ranged goal. The 5th year veteran took advantage of the loose ball after a save by UP’s goalie to give La Salle a two-goal advantage.
At the 59th minute, the Green and White hit the nail in the coffin with a Shai Del Ocampo goal off a Sara Castañeda assist to push her team’s lead to three. The super rookie has now scored in each of the three games she has played thus far this season.
The Lady Maroons found it difficult to put themselves on board as the Lady Booters showed spectacular defense, manned by Lacson.
UP attempted to get a consolation goal at the 89th minute, but Lacson proved too strong for the Lady Maroons as a 1v1 play resulted in favor of the Green and White to secure a clean sheet for her.
With the victory, the Lady Booters improved to seven points with a 2-1-0 win-draw-lose record.
