Lady Spikers bond with fans in meet and greet
As an act of gratitude for the never-ending support to the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, the fans of the Lady Spikers were given an opportunity by the DLSU community to meet up close the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 78 Women’s Volleyball Champions on May 27 at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall.
“We thank you for supporting until the very end ang ating Lady Spikers. Ngayon naman ibabalik naman namin sa inyo yung suportang naibigay niyo sa amin,” acclaimed by Sir Emmanuel Calanog, Director of the Office of Sports Development, as he welcomed the avid supporters of the Lady Spikers.
The event made the crowd more active when Ms. Joy Lanting of the Office of the Sports Development was joined by former captain and UAAP Season 75 Co-MVP Aby Maraño in hosting the meet and greet.
After a long wait, the hosts introduced the Lady Spikers one by one as they perform a catwalk in the center aisle.
The fans hailing from the different parts of the country were then treated to a series of games wherein they were able to interact with the Taft-based squad up close. Prizes were given to the winners of the games, best in costume, song-writing and poster-making contest. Both kids and young at heart participated actively in the games and photo-op sessions of the event.
The Lady Spikers proved to the fans that they are not all about volleyball as they perform a song and dance number to the crowds’ delight. After their intermission number, each of the members of the Lady Spikers gave their heartfelt dedications to over a thousand fans present in the area.
“Sana po magpatuloy pa tayo sa mga susunod na season kasi isa po kayo sa mga dahilan kung bakit lumalaban ang team,” said by captain and UAAP Season 78 Best Setter Kim Fajardo as the crowd chanted #KAFOneMoreYear.
When asked about how each of them felt during the entire program, the Lady Spikers collectively answered that they are really thankful for the all-out support that the fans give in each of their games and the Green-and-White squad also hope that their fans would also be able to support the other La Salle teams.
