Lady Spikers take down Lady Maroons, remain undefeated

The dominance continues.

The DLSU Lady Spikers once again reigned supreme after sweeping the UP Fighting Maroons in the team’s 25-9, 25-21, 25-19 earlier at the Filoil Flying V Arena.

Ara Galang led La Salle with 16 points, including 3 services aces, and 2 blocks while Mika Reyes added 15 points and 3 blocks. In addition, team captain Abi Marano chipped in 8 points.

“Pare-pareho naman ‘yung paghahanda namin sa bawat game. Kahit saan ako ilagay ni Coach [Ramil], dapat ready ako. Dapat alam ko ang gagawin,” shared Galang when asked about their win.

On the other hand, Pauline Araneta and Katherine Bersola scored 9 points apiece for the Lady Maroons. Morever, Monica Ortiz added 8 markers.

With this win, the Lady Spikers remain unscathed for Season 76.

With the Christmas break fast approaching, the Lady Spikers will resume action this January 5, 2014  against the FEU Lady Tamaraws at the San Juan Arena.

Dominating from the start

Much like the team’s 25-8 start in their previous match against National University, the Lady Spikers turned on the jets in the early going yet again.

The opening started off with Reyes setting the tone early. The Taft Tower’s series of attacks led to an early 3-1 DLSU lead.

After Araneta’s spike went in, La Salle would then counter with a ferocious rally composed of thunderous spikes and timely blocks which were too much for UP to handle. This led to the team’s opening set drubbing of UP, 25-9.

Maintaining the pace

The rest would be history as La Salle would counter every attack that UP has to offer.

The Lady Spikers eventually outdueled the Lady Maroons in the second set with a 25-21 finish.

The final set was another milestone as La Salle sealed away the Lady Maroons for good with a final score of 25-19.
