Lady Spikers roll over Lady Maroons for fourth straight

The Lady Spikers won their fourth straight game of the season after decimating the UP Lady Maroons in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-21, last Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
Ara Galang led La Salle with a game-high 20 points, and 3 blocks while Cyd Demecillo followed up with 10 points and 10 digs. In addition, Mika Reyes had 9 points and 3 blocks.
On the other hand, Nicole Tiamzon had another fine outing for UP as she scored 17 points and 8 digs while Katherine Bersola followed up with 10 points and 4 blocks. In addition, Angeli Araneta had 7 points.
“Lahat ng teams ngayon very competitive di ba? Hindi ko pwede hindi paghandaan ang lahat. Mas aggressive magdepensa ang UP ngayon compared last season,” said Lady Spikers head coach Ramil de Jesus.
As La Salle easily won the first two sets, many expected that this was another game in the bag but the Lady Maroons made things interesting as they posted a 7-2 lead to start the third set.
Although the Lady Spikers quickly weathered the storm as they answered back with an emphatic 14-9 run to tie at the score at 16 apiece. Sensing the finish the line, La Salle quickly dropped the hammer as Reyes and Demecillo fired some timely attacks to run away with the game.
This win improves La Salle’s 4-0 record to share the top spot with the Ateneo Lady Eagles.
