The De La Salle University Lady Spikers cruised past the University of the East Lady Warriors in three sets, 25-18, 25-14, 25-16, to grab their third consecutive victory in the first round of the UAAP Season 79 Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City, Sunday.
Outside hitter Ernestine Tiamzon was hailed as the Best Player of the Game after tallying 11 points, nine off of attacks and two blocks.
With the Lady Spikers up two sets to none, they smelled blood from their prey and looked to shut the door down on UE in straight sets.
La Salle did just that.
Dy hammered the ball down to take a, 18-11, lead in the third frame. The Lady Warriors was not able to search for answers as they suffered their sixth loss in as many outings.
DLSU, now with a 5-1 win-loss record, will close out the first round of eliminations against arch rivals Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday, March 4, 4pm at the Mall of Asia Arena.
