Softbelles off to a 1-3 start
For every team’s journey throughout a season, there will always be tough times.
The De La Salle University Softbelles were off to a 1-3 start in the ongoing UAAP Season 76 Softball Tournament.
The Softbelles dropped their season opener against National University, 9-3.
With the action shifting to the Rosario Stadium in Pasig City, the Softbelles faced another tough team in the UP.
In the early goings of the match, La Salle managed to hang on with UP with a 3-3 tie. But the breaks of the game went to UP as they scored crucial runs down the stretch as the Maroons rallied to take the match at 5-3.
With their last match of the year against a highly-experienced Adamson squad, La Salle couldn’t find any momentum going leading to another 12-1 defeat.
The Lone Win
The Softbelles notched their first win of the season after stunning Ateneo last December 11 at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Field.
The match seemed to be over as Ateneo cruised to a 4-0 lead after the second inning. But La Salle turned on the jets and the stage was set.
The Softbelles turned things around with precise hitting and timely pitches that led to their 11-6 drubbing of their Katipunan opponents.
The Battle Continues
After the Christmas break, the team will be back in action against the UST this coming January 4, 10:00 am, at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Field.
