Streaky Green Shuttlers swipe UE
For the third game in a row, they have been on the winning side. Coming off a series of impressive wins against Adamson University and Ateneo de Manila University last weekend, the Green Shuttlers continue to ride on the melody of their high notes as they tuned out the University of the East, 5-0, earlier at the Rizal Memorial Center Badminton Hall.
“Mataas ang confidence ng men’s team, since Saturday and Sunday ibang-iba game nila,” said DLSU Badminton Head Coach Owen Lopez after the game.
For the singles matchups against UE, La Salle was on full throttle right from the start. Kenneth Monterubio began the day by smothering Joseph Manlalangit of UE, 21-10, 21-15. For the second match, Ej Boac showcased a flawless performance as he triumphed over Benjamin Silva in two sets, 21-10 and 21-15.
For the doubles matchups, the duo of Gerald Sibayan and Anton Cayanan easily outdueled their UE counterparts in Manlalangit and Kenneth Cruz with a pair of 21-13 wins. The other doubles matchup that featured Monterubio brothers Kenneth and Prince against Lorenzo Guerrero and Luiz Gomez, however, needed a full three sets, 17-21, 21-15, 21-9, to finish the game.
In the final singles match, Jericson Obaob easily dispatched Niel Roldan with 21-19 and 21-9 wins.
Standing on the Green Shuttlers’ way for their fourth win are the UP Fighting Maroons, whom they will face this Saturday, 9:00 am, at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.
