The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Booters entered the second round of the eliminations against the University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons with a draw, 1-1, last Saturday, April 27 at the Circulo Verde Football Pitch.

The Lady Booters were able to dodge their first loss of the season after the heroic Sara Castañeda’s late equalizer.

Outsmarting each other, both La Salle and UP showed excellent defense in the first half. The Green-and-White had many chances but was unable to convert. Then, it was the Lady Maroons who converted a goal right before the half time at the 40 th minute mark.

La Salle’s Goalkeeper Tashka Lacson defended the goal post but UP’s Mary Rose Obra was able to convert a low ball against Lacson at the 40th mark.

The Taft-based squad adjusted their defense, giving the Lady Maroons less chance of converting a goal. While the opponents are still ahead, La Salle continued to struggle in offense as they could not make an equalizer at the 70 th mark of the match.

However, the Lady Booters were determined to come back and they successfully did at the 75th minute courtesy of Sara Castañeda’s equalizer. Although Lady Maroons were given free kicks, they were unable to convert thanks to Lacson for defending the post excellently.
