Woodpushers looking good early in the tournament
With four matches down, both men and women teams of DLSU currently hold good records under their belts. Last year’s fourth placers, Green Woodpushers, have only conceded one of their four tours of duty. Their lady counterparts, who are on their run for a fourth consecutive crown, is yet to give up a tie.
Both unbeaten coming into their weekend matches; they found ways to clinch their third straight victory last Saturday, January 18.
The Green Woodpushers trashed UP, 2.5-1.5, while the ladies got a 3.0-1.0 win over UST. The day after, the men’s team unfortunately got their first defeat of the season at the hands or the FEU Tamaraws at 1.0-3.0. Meanwhile, the Lady Woodpushers remained untouched with their 2.5-1.5 triumph over UST.
For men’s co-captain Aglipay 8 Oberio, a 3rd year player, the team’s long time journey from last year helped them to have a better standing this year.
“The good thing of being the same team as last season is that we are able to strengthen our bond and improve our play as a team becoming hungrier for victory as we lose, and longing for more as we win,” he quipped.
